Burlington-Edison and Sedro-Woolley offered little resistance as the Oak Harbor boys swim team swept by both schools in a nonleague double-dual meet at the Mount Vernon YMCA Tuesday afternoon.

The Wildcats defeated Burlington-Edison 116-45 and Sedro-Woolley 118-48. The pair of wins lifts Oak Harbor’s season dual meet record to 10-0.

Oak Harbor goes to Lake Stevens Thursday, Jan. 21, for a 3:15 meet. The Vikings should provide the biggest dual meet challenge so far for this season for the Wildcats. Oak Harbor and Marysville-Pilchuck sit atop the Wesco North standings with 5-0 records; Lake Stevens is next at 4-2. The Vikings finished 10th, one spot ahead of Oak Harbor, in the 33-team Kentridge Invitational earlier this season.

Oak Harbor and M-P will face off Jan. 29.

The Wildcats won nine of 11 events against Burlington-Edison and 10 against Sedro-Woolley.

Josh Jepsen and Price Hu each won one individual event and swam on three winning relay teams in both meets.

Jepsen took the 100 butterfly (59.1) and Hu the 100 breaststroke (1:10.39).

They were joined by Jacob Jepsen and Matt Bolte to win the 200 medley relay (1:53.45), by Jacob Jepsen and Ben Cardinal in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.71), and by Bolte and John Kaltenbach in the 400 free relay (3:48.47).

Devin Schell captured the 200 free (2:01.48) and 500 free (5:39.8) in both meets, and Brett Vagt won the 200 individual medley (2:30.49) in both.

David Kusnick grabbed first in the 50 free (28.69) against Burlington-Edison and 100 free (1:04.39) against Sedro-Woolley.

Cardinal took the 100 backstroke (1:08.83) against Sedro-Woolley.

Oak Harbor coach Amy Nurvic said, “It was a fun meet. I was able to get some swimmers in varsity heats that don’t always get in.”
