It took Oak Harbor High School graduate Dejon Devroe only one meet to set a school record and to qualify for the National Christian College Athletic Association national track championship meet.
Devroe, a freshman at Everett’s Trinity Lutheran College, ran the 800 meters in a personal best and Trinity school record 1:52.1 at the Linfield Erik Anderson Memorial Ice Breaker Saturday, March 5.
The time is the fastest among NCCAA runners this season.
He placed second in the meet, first among collegiate runners.
With that effort, Devroe received NCCAA Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Devroe’s previous personal best was an OHHS record 1:52.82 he set while winning the state 3A 800 title last spring.
