During the 22 years I have had the privilege of working as an Island County employee and have had the opportunity to see county commissioners come and go, I observed that it typically takes one to two years before a new commissioner grasps and fully understands the complexities and dynamics of managing a county government.
I strongly support and recommend John Dean in his bid for re-election. We need steady proven leadership at the helm during these uncertain times. John has consistently demonstrated the demeanor, intelligence and experience that are required. He reminds me of two other outstanding Island County commissioners with whom I have worked and who served Island County so well in the past, Dwain Colby (Camano Island) and Mike Shelton (South Whidbey). Both these leaders were effective because they were open minded, fair, consensus-builder, and they listened well to their constituents: all qualities found in John Dean.
Please vote to retain John Dean on the Board of Island County Commissioners.
