Such a moment came for Oak Harbor High School volleyball coach Kerri Molitor as her club lost 3-0 at Stanwood Tuesday, Sept. 25.

The Spartans (1-0, 4-3) won the Wesco 3A North opener 25-16, 26-24, 26-24.

Molitor said, “Not sure what happened…We had a good practice last night (Monday), and I think we left our game in our own gym. We looked like a completely different team.”

She said there was one thing that was clear, her team hurt itself from the service line: “Not sure exactly how many service errors, but I think we were in double digits by the second set.”

Roshel Muzzall tallied eight kills, six digs and two aces; and Kayleigh Harper finished with 14 kills and 12 digs.

While the varsity lost, the Wildcat JV team (5-2) pulled out a 2-1 win. After dropping the first set 25-15, it bounced back to win 25-27, 25-12.

According to stats provided by Douglas McVey, Tiffany Kepner and Hailey Beecher had three kills and three aces each; Aubry Lock and Deanna Ruben had two kills and two aces; Irene Gribble had two kills and Natalie McVey had 12 assists.

Oak Harbor (0-1, 2-5) plays Everett (3-3) at home at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27.
