Oak Harbor School District has launched a new student safety tip line for students, staff and parents who feel unsafe.
The number, a hotline where callers can leave messages about any issue, is available for anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable with “normal avenues of communication,” according to Superintendent Lance Gibbon.
“We looked at new ways to get whatever information we can about student safety issues,” Gibbon said.
This line is for messages, which can be left anonymously, though the district would prefer names and contact numbers to allow staff members or others to follow on problems.
Gibbon said the line will be checked “once or twice a day.”
“(The line is) just another way we can make sure our students and staff are safe,” said Gibbon.
The hotline number is 360-279-5050. If you have an emergency, please call 911.
