Safe boating class begins in March
The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron hosts a six-session boating course from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, beginning March 2.
Classes will be held in Hayes Hall, room 112, at Skagit Valley College in Oak Harbor.
Cost is $25 per student and includes books. Spouses or family members who use the same set of books are charged $13.

Get ready to dodge balls
Northwest Training Academy in Oak Harbor is opening signups for a new dodge ball league.
Open to all fourth and fifth-graders (elementary group) along with middle school, high School and adults, the league is slated to begin Feb. 16.

Take the bus to the mountains
There is new snow and plenty of room for one-time riders if anyone would like to get up to the mountains for a day of skiing or boarding.
The South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District has Coupeville, and South Whidbey Everett pickups. The annual trip to Mount Baker is Feb. 10, so don’t miss your opportunity.
Come join a great group of people and take a day for yourself and save up to $14 on a lift ticket. The cost of one ride on the bus is $40.

New boxing club opens in Oak Harbor
Whidbey Boxing, a new club for island pugilists, is now in operation at 2949 Goldie Rd. unit H-2.
Ring training is offered for juniors ages 8 through 17 as well as adults.
Affiliated with USA Boxing, the governing arm of Olympic Boxing in the United States, the club is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for the junior program.
Right now, there are about 20 kids signed up for the junior program.
