Oak Harbor won seven of the 12 events, but Shorecrest used its superior depth to defeat the Wildcat swim and dive team 103-82 in a battle of two of Wesco’s top squads at the Shoreline Pool Thursday, Jan. 5.
The Scots (8-1) picked up 10 second places on the way to the win.
Although Oak Harbor (5-2) lost, it received a strong showing from the Jepsen brothers. Both swam state qualifying times in two individual events and swam on two winning relay teams.
Senior Jacob Jepsen took the 200 (1:40.05) and 500 freestyle races (4:54.81), and junior Josh Jepson captured the 200 medley (2:04.03) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.71).
The pair hooked up with Caley Powers and Kevin Levy to snare the 200 medley (1:46.61) and 400 free relays (3:32.93).
Powers collected the other Oak Harbor win in the 100 butterfly (58.19).
The Wildcats go to Jackson along with Edmonds-Woodway and Mountlake Terrace Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 2:30 p.m.
