Fairies, elves play at Meerkerk today

The Meerkerk Magic Festival of Flowers takes place today, April 19, from noon to 4 p.m. Kids under 16 are admitted free, while adults pay $8. The Greenbank Fairy Princess reads tales of magical lands and fairy flowers to children throughout the afternoon. Sip lemonade like a butterfly or savor a fairy cake. Fairy wings provided by one of the towering, flowering trees, the Magnolia sargentianum robustus.

The next big attraction, other than the continuing blossoming of the gardens, is the Mother’s Day Concert on the Lawn on May 11. Picnic to beautiful harp music and enjoy the gardens, then peruse the rhododendron nursery stocked with a myriad of plants. Admission is $12 for adults, $1 for kids 5 and older.
