Home values decline, utility rates climbing | Letters

Here we go again, folks. How long do we, the taxpayers, have to pay for the stupidity of the previous city council? Another $6-8 a month for bones, a few more for storm drains, a few more for water treatment and a few more for this, that and other things.

Editor,

Here we go again, folks. How long do we, the taxpayers, have to pay for the stupidity of the previous city council? Another $6-8 a month for bones, a few  more for storm drains, a few more for water treatment and a few more for this, that and other things.

I think our former mayor and his band of “yes” people should be held responsible for any and all costs related to the Pioneer Way fiasco.

We moved to Oak Harbor seven years ago and, since then, our property value has gone down 10-15 percent and our taxes and utility bill have gone up a like amount.

Oak Harbor was picked as one of the best small towns to live, but they forgot to add, “if you don’t own property.”

I’m tired of putting renters’ children through school. I’m tired of paying school levies that do little more than increase the salaries of teachers.

The school system is no different and the children are certainly no better educated then they were 10 years ago.

Dudley and Obama seem to be working from the same playbook. Take all you can from the “rich” property owners and help the “poor” renters and other low income families.

I just wish they would use the same playbook when it comes to paying taxes.

Share the burden equally, but I guess I’m asking a little too much from our “leaders.”
