Rick Kiser (Letters, Sept. 10) says he favors candidate Bailey because she favors limiting government. I wonder if Mr. Kiser has observed that Bailey, by her voting record, demonstrates a commitment to saving public money only on services which are vital to the poor and to the middle class.
Yes, let’s save money, says Bailey and her ilk, on such important, nation-strengthening items as adequate public schooling and universal, comprehensive health services!
Many years of observation demonstrate to me that politicians of the Bailey type are prone to cut corners on funding safety inspectors to regulate safety at the work place or cut funding of those government employees assigned to enforce banking regulations designed to protect not only clients of that industry, but the stability of the nation’s economic system.
No, Mr. Kiser, folks like me won’t leave you alone to enjoy your self-stimulating bon mots concerning “socialism” and “big brother”! We’ll stick around to see if we can help you understand who “we the people” really are!
