Lakewood spoiled the party by defeating Coupeville’s volleyball team 3-2 Monday on senior night on the Wolves’ court.
The Cougars came from behind to claim the 25-27, 25-19, 16-25, 25-19, 15-10 win.
Poor serving was the Wolves’ downfall. They missed 10 in the first two games and 15 total. Coach Toni Crebbin said, “We normally make 90 percent.” She added, “We didn’t play well until the third game even though we won the first one.”
Four senior Wolves played their final home match: Jessica Blanchette, Kaylie Kellison, Michelle Riddle, and Julie Swankie.
Swankie had 37 assists, Riddle 10 kills, and Kellison two aces and 16-16 serving. Freshman Jessica Riddle recorded 13 kills.
Coupeville is 6-6 in Cascade Conference play, 7-6 overall.
