ADVENT QUIET DAY IS 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 555 SE Regatta Drive, Oak Harbor. Slow down and contemplate the work of God in Christ, in the world and in our own lives. Walk our labyrinth, meditate with our icons and light a candle for loved ones. Stay an hour or all day and join us in quiet fellowship. No reservations necessary.

The Fourth Sunday of Advent/Greening of the Episcopal Church is at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at ST. STEPHEN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Oak Harbor. The Rev. Rilla Barrett will preside. As with all Sundays, there will be a fun and educational Children’s Sunday School during the first part of the church service. Following the service, at about 11 a.m., there will be the Greening of the Church, always a fun and energy-filled time. A Christmas tree will be decorated and a Christ Candle added to the Advent wreath. Garlands will be hung, and the Nativity set will emerge anew. Finger foods will be served and music will be played. GRACE BY THE SEA ANGLICAN CHURCH has a new home. They have bought the old YMCA building at 540 SE Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor. The first service will be Fourth Advent at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. An Episcopal Christmas Eve Service is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at ST. STEPHEN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Oak Harbor. The church will hold a special daylight Christmas Eve service with music, pageant and Holy Eucharist. A half hour of carol singing will begin at 3 p.m., and the service will follow at 3:30 p.m. The children of St. Stephen’s will present a pageant during the service. Special music will also be presented. At the end of the service, the congregation will light individual candles from the candles on the altar and sing “Silent Night.” All are invited to this special, visitor-friendly service. THE COUPEVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will be conducting two special services on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24th. At 5 p.m., the service will be tailored for families with young children. At 7 p.m., the traditional Candlelight Service will include familiar hymns and culminate with a song lit only by candles held by every participant. The church is located at 608 N. Main St. All members of the community are invited to participate in one or both services.
