Island County noxious weed seats available

The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill three positions on the Noxious Weed Control Board. Noxious Weed Control Board members are appointed to four-year terms, which may be renewed by mutual agreement. The unpaid board consists of five voting members, one from each of five geographical areas that best represent the county’s interests. At least four of the voting members need to be engaged in the primary production of agricultural products.

Current openings are for: District 1, from Fort Nugent Road north to Deception Pass; District 3, from Race Road to Freeland; and District 5, all of Camano Island.

Duties as a member of the Noxious Weed Control Board include attending quarterly meetings, regulating the duties and direction of the Weed Control coordinator’s position and making decisions regarding noxious weed control efforts in Island County.
