I am writing in response to the editor’s opinion in the Dec. 31 Whidbey News-Times. I so much appreciated the tone and content of the article. Thank you.

I am also thankful for 2011 but very optimistic about 2012. We have seen many challenges this past year but I believe we have many opportunities in front of us. In my lifetime, I have learned that adversity always creates opportunities.

As a business owner involved in the real estate industry, I agree that one of our economic challenges is the housing industry, though with consumer confidence increasing and all other positive indicators, we should see a stabilization this year. I am excited to be involved in this dynamic industry and to partner with all of the contractors, appliance and furniture stores, home improvement centers and all of the other housing industry professionals to see a successful 2012 for all.

Thanks again for writing such a positive and optimistic letter of opinion. Wishing everyone a successful and prosperous 2012.
