Graduation time nears on Whidbey

Both Coupeville and Oak Harbor high schools have a full slate of events coming up that highlight the accomplishments of the Class of 2009.

Both Coupeville and Oak Harbor high schools have a full slate of events coming up that highlight the accomplishments of the Class of 2009.

Coupeville High School’s graduation takes place Friday, June 5, at 6 p.m. in the Coupeville High School Gymnasium with a reception following at the high school commons beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Before graduation, seniors will parade down Main Street on Thursday, June 4, and will also enjoy a brunch. The senior assembly begins at 9 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Baccalaureate takes place Wednesday, June 3, at 7 p.m. at Living Hope Church and the Senior Awards night takes place Tuesday, June 2, at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Oak Harbor’s Class of 2009 graduates Monday, June 15, outdoors at Wildcat Memorial Stadium. Gates close at 5:45 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

A plethora of events take place the previous Friday, June 12, including the senior breakfast at 7:30 a.m., the senior assembly at 9:30 a.m. and graduation practice at 12:30 p.m. The senior awards ceremony is at 7 p.m. in Parker Hall. Baccalaureate is Sunday June 14, at 4 p.m. in Parker Hall.

On Thursday, June 11, the seniors will help the juniors mark the end of the school year with the traditional paper toss.
