You might say the Oak Harbor Legion baseball team has a split personality.

In four of the five two-game series against league opponents this summer, Oak Harbor has split, the latest at Lynden Thursday, June 25.

Lynden (4-3) won the first game 5-1; Oak Harbor took the second 12-6.

Lynden’s Jared House pitched a seven-hitter in the opener, striking out seven.

Oak Harbor scored its lone run in the fifth inning with the help of singles by Brandon Philp, Robert Herring and Tyler Snavely.

Dylan Bailey had two singles and Avery Aguirre and Steven Richards one each for the other Wildcat hits.

Richards took the pitching loss. After surrendering five runs (only two earned) in the first two innings, he limited Lynden to only one hit and two base runners the rest of the way.

Oak Harbor had little trouble scoring runs in the second game, including starting out with three in the first inning. A walk to Brent Benson and a single by Snavely set up a three-run home run by Herring.

In the second inning, Richards walked, and then consecutive hits by Taylor Consford, Bailey and Benson produced two more runs. That made it 5-3, Oak Harbor.

Singles by Bailey and Benson led to a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

Oak Harbor tacked on three runs in the fifth, and Bailey and Benson were involved again. Damian Simpkins walked and Consford doubled in front of Bailey’s double and Benson’s single.

In the sixth, Oak Harbor tallied it final two runs on singles by Richards, Aguirre, Simpkins and Consford.

Bailey, Benson and Consford all finished with three hits; Herring slugged a home run; Snavely, Richards, Aguirre and Simpkins added singles; and Aguirre was the winning pitcher.

Oak Harbor (4-6, 7-9) plays a double header at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Burlington (5-6).
