Wildcats take no Seagull prisoners

Revenge is sweet and the Oak Harbor High School basketball team took a full measure Wednesday evening against Everett.

On Jan. 17 the Wildcats were upset 54-50 by the Seagulls on their home floor but in the return game, it was all Oak Harbor in a 65-33 blowout victory.

Led by the “Big Three,” Jessica Denmon, Nicole Mowbray and Jennifer Jansen, Oak Harbor took a 19-4 lead after the first quarter, and stretched the margin to 38-11 by halftime.

Denmon finished the game with 18 points, Mowbray had 14 and Jansen scored 11. Teammates Cheyenne Tubo and Clarissa Abadesco scored eight and seven points, respectively

No Everett player scored in double figures.

The Wildcats remained hot from the field in the third period putting 20 additional points on the board, to up their record to 7-4 in WesCo North games and 10-5 overall.

Wrestlers even WesCo North record

On the home mat Tuesday evening, the Oak Harbor High School wrestling team evened its WesCo North record at 3-3 with a 48-24 victory over Cascade.

Big Brian Howard, returning to action after an injury, opened the match with a pinfall victory in the 285- pound bout.

Also scoring wins via pinfall were Cory Trimbur (103), Connar Zimmerman (119), John Tuttle (140), Jarred Tyson (152) and Zach Loescher (171).

Oak Harbor swamps Mount Vernon

The Oak Harbor High School swim team ran its season record to 13-0 Tuesday afternoon defeating Mount Vernon 113-55 in a non-league meet in Mount Vernon.

The Wildcats captured all of the individual events except the 50 and 100 freestyles, and won two of the three relay races.
