The Oak Harbor Fire Department invites the public to commemorate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks tomorrow morning.
Fire Chief Ray Merrill said the solemn ceremony will take place at 7:45 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, outside the fire department on E. Whidbey Avenue.
Ron Lawler, the pastor for the fire department, will lead the ceremony. State Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen and Rep. Barbara Bailey will be attending. NJROTC may attend.
Merrill said there will be a bell ceremony, a laying of a wreath, bagpipers and a bugler.
Tuesday will mark the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people. Among those were 411 emergency workers who died trying to rescue people and fight fires.
