Toiling in near anonymity, the Coupeville High School tennis team celebrated Senior Day by wrapping up the Olympic League championship with a 6-1 win over visiting Chimacum Monday, May 4.

The win was the Wolves ninth straight, and they remain perfect in conference play (5-0, 10-3 overall) with one league contest left. Coupeville goes to Sequim for a nonleague match at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, and then concludes the season at 3 p.m. at Chimacum Thursday, May 7.

The Olympic League 1A tournament is Tuesday, May 12, at Port Townsend.

Coupeville coach Ken Stange said it was “fun” to secure the league title on Senior Day.

“It’s too bad that aside from the Chimacum contingent, there were only about 10-15 people to see it happen,” he said.
