Last weekend the Oak Harbor volleyball team swept two games from then state-ranked Glacier Peak at the SunDome Festival, Monday the Grizzlies evened the score by nipping the visiting Wildcats 3-2.
Glacier Peak won 20-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 15-10.
Oak Harbor coach Kerri Molitor said things started well for her club even though she made a mistake in the rotation order in the lineup she submitted.
She said, “They did a good job mentally, not freaking out (about the lineup).”
The Wildcats, however, lost focus in the second game, Molitor said, and possibly “let up” when returning the more comfortable normal rotation.
Overall, Oak Harbor played well, Molitor said, as she worked though different lineups “trying to find what group meshes well.”
Kayleigh Harper, playing some at right-side hitter instead of her usual middle, led Oak Harbor with 24 kills, 14 digs and eight blocks.
Roshell Muzzall had 10 kills and 24 digs; Amelia Berner came off the bench to record six kills, four aces and 18 digs; and Taylor Nienhuis had 37 assists.
Oak Harbor (1-2) hosts Arlington (1-1) at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17.
