Oak Harbor won three of four singles matches but host Shorecrest swept the doubles, and that was enough to carry the Scots to a 4-3 win Friday, May 9.

The loss in the regular-season finale set Oak Harbor’s season record at 8-8 (5-8 in Wesco 3A North action, good for third place).

The Wildcats take part in the Western Conference North championships at 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 13 and 14, at Stanwood.

In the Shorecrest match, Oak Harbor captured the top three singles matches: 1, Makenzie Perry won 1-6, 6-3, 6-3; 2, AnnaBelle Whitefoot won 6-1, 6-3; and 3, Caterina Amsler won 6-1, 5-7, 6-4.

“Makenzie Perry, after losing the first set, dug in and found a way to win the second and third sets,” coach Horace Mells said. “AnnaBelle Whitefoot played well from start to finish with some great serving. Caterina Amsler played well in the third singles position and managed to maintain consistency for the most part of her match with a strong third set finish.”

Hope Drager lost in fourth singles 6-1, 6-3.

Oak Harbor dropped all three doubles matches: 1, Zena Husler/Alyssa Eden lost 6-0, 6-2; 2, Chelsea Admire/Faith Franssen lost 6-3, 6-0; and 3, Hannah Gluth/Erina Horikawa lost 6-4, 7-6(4).
