Battling through four close games, the Wildcat volleyball team out-scrapped Shorewood 3-1 at Oak Harbor High School Tuesday.
The 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 26-24 win raised Oak Harbor’s season record to 2-1. The Thunderbirds fell to 1-2.
Coach Kerri Molitor said her squad “played hard with great defense.” She was most impressed by the team’s ability to focus in the highly competitive final game and rally to win after defensive star Kelsey Terrazas-Cooley left the court with an injury late in the match.
Libero Terrazas-Cooley was at the center of the defensive effort with 37 digs; Katelyn Bristow added 20.
Offensively, Oak Harbor had 32 assists and two aces from setter Melany Cone. Marisa Sutherland had 11 kills, Janessa Ramos nine, and Bristow eight.
The Wildcats go to Kamiak Thursday and Jackson next Tuesday.
