A retreat designed for Coupeville High School athletes attracted nearly 100 Wolves to the CHS Commons Friday, March 13.

The retreat, sponsored by the Coupeville Booster Club, included several speakers from Proactive Coaching, food and give-aways.

The speakers emphasized the “coachable spirit” and life lessons, prompting the athletes to be more coachable and using those qualities in everyday life as well as in the athletic arena.

Ninety-four athletes were present at the end of the evening, according to the Booster Club’s Shelli Trumbull, and several others attended for a portion of the event.

Originally, the Booster Club hoped to make it an over-night retreat at Camp Casey but changed the format to accommodate the baseball and soccer players who had games the next day.

The club hopes to hold the retreat each year, Trumbull said, although the date may be switched to the fall. Holding the event in late August after fall sports begin, just before school starts and when most families are finished with vacations is a logical time to maximize attendance, she said.
