Representatives from various branches of the military gathered Tuesday at the Island County Courthouse to honor veterans.

Representatives from various branches of the military gathered Tuesday at the Island County Courthouse to honor veterans.

Organized by the Central Whidbey Lions Club, the program was led by Coupeville Mayor Nancy Conard with songs by the Shifty Sailors.

Lt. Col. Ashton Haynes of Oak Harbor posted the Army Flag. Lt. Mare Chapman of Coupeville posted the Navy Flag.

Re McClung posted the Marine Corps Flag in honor of her daughter, Megan McClung, who was the first female Marine Corps Officer to be killed in action in the Middle East and her late husband Capt. Michael McClung.

Coupeville grad Lt. Col. Wendy Amtmann Waskik posted the Air Force flag.

Bill Bradkin of Coupeville posted the Coast Guard flag in honor of his father.

James Colligan of Coupeville posted the Merchant Marine Flag and Paul Johnson posted the Prisoner of War flag.
