Editor,
How about a moderate approach to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station?
I believe in a strong defense. I admire the well trained Navy men and women in my community.
Jobs are important. The Navy provides many. But I don’t think the Navy should be permitted to exceed noise levels on the ground that violate OSHA standards.
I do think the Navy should be transparent about flight density mapping, real world, not hypothetical, including changes over time.
I do think the Navy should listen to the community feedback and try to find a compromise, even if it is somewhat less convenient.
Let’s all be willing to flex a little, and that includes our powerful Navy.
