Coupeville a perfect place for community fitness center | Letter

Editor,

My name is Anthony Bergeron and I am student at Coupeville High School. I would like to address Coupeville and why it should consider building a community center that includes an indoor basketball court with a weight room.

Being a basketball player, I have been looking for a place like this so that I am able to practice my skills. The only place that I know that is like this is the Navy base gym in Oak Harbor.

Not everyone is military, so a lot of people are not able to go to this gym. Plenty other people at Oak Harbor High School and Coupeville High School are looking for a place like this because all we have are outdoor courts that we are not able to play on a lot of the time because of the weather.

The reason Coupeville is the ideal location for this is because it is between Oak Harbor and South Whidbey, so that players and citizens from all three communities have a place they are able to play at.

One positive outcome of this would be that it would help the high schools boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, especially because they have struggled for the past three years.

This would give kids a place to develop their skills in the off season.
