Oak Harbor Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a hit-and-run driver who struck a boy walking to school Wednesday morning.
The 17-year-old boy was on his way to Oak Harbor High School between 7 and 8 a.m. when he was hit while in the crosswalk at Whidbey Avenue and Jib Street, said Police Chief Ed Green.
The driver didn’t stop and may have been driving a gray mini van.
“It is unknown if they even knew they hit him,” Green said.
The student is OK. His parents took him to the hospital where he was checked and cleared to return to school.
If anyone saw what happened, they should call police.
This is the third time this school year students have been hit by drivers while walking to or from school.
