One way is the wrong way

I wish to support the well-expressed opinion of Laura and Bret Medbury in the Letters to the editor, Jan. 2. I am as baffled and concerned as they are about the logic of a one way street decision for Pioneer Way. The people most directly involved were politely listened to and then their information and opinion was disregarded evidenced by the 4 to 3 vote.

I have witnessed this same attitude over other matters which have come before the City Council. Why did this item of business planned for 2011 need to be rushed through?

The rationale for the one way street design seems to be huge sidewalks. However, the weather in this lovely part of Washington doesn’t require huge sidewalks. Pioneer Way is charming, and yes the sidewalks need work, but there is nothing wrong with the traffic flow. I also agree that we should expect fiscally responsible spending from our City Council which means “don’t make this project bigger than necessary.”

Listen to those who have the most to lose and rescind this decision, please.
