Island County Sheriff: Aggressive pit bull; goose shot, strangled, in front of child; and more

The following items were selected from reports made to the Island County Sheriff’s Office:

Tuesday, Jan. 19

At 9:45 a.m., a man reported that his house under construction on Scenic Heights Road was broken into for the third day in a row.

Monday, Jan. 18

At 12:11 p.m., a caller reported that a 10- to 15-foot skiff capsized in Penn Cove.

At 12:29 p.m., a Scenic Heights Road resident reported that someone attempted to break into his house the day before.

Sunday, Jan. 17

At 6:04 a.m., a woman reported that she crashed her car on Highway 20 at Madrona Way. Her car hit a patch of ice and skidded, then hit the bank and flipped.

At 1:55 p.m., a burglary was reported on Scenic Heights Road.

Saturday, Jan. 16

At 11:10 p.m., a Zylstra Road resident reported a horse was missing.

Friday, Jan. 15

At 3:40 p.m., a woman reported that a dog bit her son on Ault Field Road the day before.

At 11:28 p.m., an assault was reported at a Taylor Road home. A woman was hit in the head and had a split lip.

Thursday, Jan. 14

AT 9:15 a.m., a Jones Road resident reported that a refrigerator was dumped on her front lawn.

At 10:33 a.m., a caller reported “squatters” living on a home on Shawn Avenue.

At 3:26 p.m., a Rhododendron Drive resident reported that a large, red cow was in her yard.

At 3:49 p.m., there was a reported that a boat was broken into at the Cornet Bay Marina. Electronic equipment was stolen from the boat.

Wednesday, Jan. 13

At 9:57 a.m., a horse was reported loose on Lyon Road.

At 11:31 a.m., a caller reported that a black and white cow was wandering on the south side of Highway 20 near Jones Road.

At 12:37 p.m., a caller reported a burglary at a Monkey Hill Road residence. The suspects left in a turquoise Honda.

At 3:28 p.m., a caller reported that neighbors on Byrd Drive were burning furniture in their yard.

At 5:05 p.m., a Jones Road resident reported that he walked into his home, saw that it had been burglarized and walked out.

At 6:12 p.m., a Puget Sound Lane resident reported that a cat was in his tree.

At 10:45 p.m., a possible domestic assault occurred at a Lato Drive home.

Tuesday, Jan. 12

At 8:24 a.m., a caller reported that a pit bull was acting aggressively toward her and children waiting at a bus stop on Riepma Avenue.

At 12:28 p.m., a caller reported that hunters in a field at Dugualla Bay shot and strangled a goose in front of her 5-year-old child. She said there are “no hunting” signs posted all over the area.

At 10:01 p.m., a caller reported poachers on the edge of Penn Cove. She caller said the three people are possibly taking clams.

At 11:36 p.m., a man reported that a resident on N. Pheasant Run Road stole his vehicle.
