The Oak Harbor High School soccer team showed improvement, according to coach Jeff Laiblin, in its 4-0 loss at Shorecrest Thursday, Sept. 27.
The Scots (6-2) own Wesco’s third-best mark behind two top-10 teams (Meadowdale, No. 1; and Everett, No. 5).
Laiblin said, “Much improved effort by the girls tonight…In the past they have completely dominated our program, but not tonight.”
Shorecrest jumped to a 2-0 lead “on very fast play,” Laiblin said, before the Wildcats adjusted to the speed of the game.
The Scots scored a controversial third goal, which rattled his team, Laiblin said, and led to the fourth score.
Laiblin said Jacalyn Hefflefinger was the player of the game for her defensive effort.
The Wildcats (0-5, 1-6-1) now face No. 1 Meadowdale (8-0) at 7:30 p.m. at home Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Laiblin said, “Tough opponent, yes, but I believe great moments come from great opportunities, and Tuesday is a great opportunity to do something great.”
