The normally docile Oak Harbor Arts Commission meeting might be especially lively Monday night.
A local artist has been distributing fliers to encourage people to attend the meeting and discuss what to do with the wood from the post office Garry oak tree, which the city recently cut down.
The arts commission is tasked with coming up with ideas for making something from the wood to commemorate the ancient tree.
In addition, one member of the commission plans to discuss the Kraken, a controversial metal sculpture that was commissioned for the intersection of Pioneer Way and City Beach Street.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting 6 p.m., Monday, April 14 at City Hall.
