Soroptimist International of Coupeville seeks to award two women with the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award and the Violet Richardson Award.
The Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award gives women the resources to improve their education and employment prospects.
Applicants must be women who provide the primary financial support for their families, who are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and live in the Coupeville School District.
The cash award may be used to offset any costs associated with efforts to attain higher education including books, childcare and transportation.
The regional level winner will be awarded $5,000. At the next level, three finalists receive $10,000 awards.
For an application, to be postmarked by Dec. 15, call Susan at 678-4171.
The Violet Richardson Award is given to a young woman between age 14 and 17 who volunteers in the Coupeville community or school.
The winner will be someone who changes hope into despair, believes in the power of volunteer action and makes Coupeville a better place to live.
The winner will receive a monetary award and then become eligible for one of 28 $1,000 awards. One finalist will be chosen for an additional award, including a contribution of $2,500 to the finalist’s volunteer organization.
