Editor,
It’s that time again. With the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire Primary, the official election season has begun.
The League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island encourages all citizens to participate in the democratic process. Both political parties will be holding caucuses soon to choose our state delegates to the Republican and Democratic conventions where the nominees for president will be chosen.
Now is the time to use your voice and impact the choice.
The Republicans will caucus on Feb. 20. For details on how and where to participate go to www.islandcountygop.com
The Democrats will caucus on March 26. For details on how and where to participate go to www.islandcountydemocrats.wordpress.com
In addition, the state will hold a primary election on May 24. You must be registered to vote by April 25 to participate in this primary. You may register online at www.sos.wa.gov/elections. This website will also allow you to update your registration if you have moved. Want to understand how this works? Go to this page: www.lwv-kitsap.org/2016-Elections.html
Democracy, as some say, is not a spectator sport. Our democracy is always stronger when more people participate. Use your voice and vote! The LWV of Whidbey Island will be active this spring and fall providing voter registration opportunities and candidate forums.
We welcome your participation. Go to www.lwvwhidbey.org to learn more about us and the work we do.
Mendy McLean-Stone,
Secretary
LWV of Whidbey Island
