Vaccine grows slowly in eggs

According to the CDC, the chief reason there is so little H1N1 flu vaccine is that it grows slowly in fertilized chicken eggs, the medium where it is made in industrial quantities. Thus, the vaccine shortage is the consequence of the virus’s biology, not human laziness or incompetence.

According to the CDC, the chief reason there is so little H1N1 flu vaccine is that it grows slowly in fertilized chicken eggs, the medium where it is made in industrial quantities. Thus, the vaccine shortage is the consequence of the virus’s biology, not human laziness or incompetence.

Without presenting any evidence to the contrary, the editor of the News-Times does a disservice to the paper’s readers to suggest that the shortage is the result of our government’s incompetence or its drift toward communism (In Our Opinion, Nov. 4). Does the News-Times hope to boost circulation by emulating Fox News?
