“College Connections” is the latest addition to the series of innovative resources created by Great Choices, a company started by two Oak Harbor residents, Cheryl Gordon and Lynn Vagt.
The new addition is aimed at helping students gain the confidence they need to successfully pursue higher education.
Co-author Gordon said Pepperdine University has adopted College Connections for a mentoring program in the Disabilities Services Office and in a freshman seminar class.
While colleges may use College Connections in their freshman programs, the workbook is also available directly to students through the Great Choices Web site at www.greatchoicesonline.com.
”The transition to college can be very challenging as evidenced by the alarming, national statistic that 1 in 4 college freshman drop out after their first year of college,” Gordon said. “College Connections is a practical tool that will help students quickly and effectively make that transition to the freedoms and responsibilities of college life, enabling them to be equipped for academic and personal success.”
Gordon and Vagt have successfully developed and delivered comprehensive tools to guide middle and high school students to readiness for college, career and citizenship.
“Great Choices has gained a foothold in educational communities in Washington and throughout the United States, making a positive difference for students, parents, and schools, Vagt said.
