At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, the Whidbey Island Fly Fishing Club is proud to present Jim Anderson’s program on fishing British Columbia lakes at the Race Road fire station south of Coupeville. Anderson is a private contractor on South Whidbey.

His talk will cover the where and how about bringing in the big ones.

Also, he will show his famous “no-fail” flies.

If you want to learn about fishing British Columbia lakes, don’t miss this meeting.

The meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

Dodgeball tourney March 14 and 15

Northwest Training Academy is hosting a two day dodgeball tournament Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, at Oak Harbor Elementary School as a fundraiser for players in the North Whidbey Soccer Academy.

The cost to participate in the tournament is $35 per player.

Teams may have up to 10 players, with six players on the court at the beginning of the game.

Each match will consist of one 20 minute continuous clock period and teams will play as many games as possible during that time period.

The team with the most wins at the end of playing time wins the match.

Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three 20 minute sessions.

Tournament organizers will divide the teams into adult and children’s (fourth grade and above) brackets.

Babe Ruth tryouts begin today

Oak Harbor Babe Ruth Baseball will conduct tryouts for 12, 13 and 14-year-old players from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. today, Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, at the Oak Harbor High School baseball field.

No preregistration is required.
