The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicant for a vacanct position on the Water Conservancy Board. The position is for a full six year term that expires on July 2, 2017.
The Water Conservancy Board was created for the purpose of expediting administrative process for water right transfers among water right holders.
Water Conservancy Board members must receive 32 hours of instruction regarding hydrology, state water law, state water policy, administrative and judicial case law developments, field practices, evaluation of existing water rights and applied practical experience working with applications for transfer of water rights with Dept. of Ecology staff. After one year of service on the board, members must annually complete eight hours of continuing education directed or approved by the Dept. of Ecology.
The board meets to review applications. Service is without fee or compensation but members are entitled to reimbursement for certain travel expenses and training costs.
