A late save by the Shorewood goalkeeper thwarted Oak Harbor’s comeback attempt in the Wildcats’ 2-1 loss at Shoreline Stadium Monday, Oct. 24.
The Wildcats (0-12-3) close out the season at home against first-place and third-ranked Everett (14-0-1) Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m.
Shorewood scored early then halfway through the second half to go up 2-0.
Oak Harbor scored a minute later when a nice pass from Nalani Gabbert to McKenzie Schneider set up Schneider’s assist to Jember Jansen.
Coach Jeff Laiblin said his team “really pressured the remaining of the game” but couldn’t net the equalizer.
He said, “I am really proud of the ladies…They played with a sense of confidence they had been lacking of late.”
Laiblin said the Wildcats received a strong game in goal from Cassidy Gurich subbing for starter Annie Leete who missed the game because of travel delays while returning from San Diego.
