The Model T’s got away safely but a Chevrolet Lumina and a Ford F150 pickup truck collided in a near head-on crash Friday morning at the intersection of Arnold Road and Sharon Street near Penn Cove in a non-injury accident.

The crash occurred when the driver of the eastward-bound Lumina attempted a left turn on to Sharon Road. The 17-year-old reportedly did not see the oncoming Ford truck, which was headed westward on Arnold Road, according to Deputy Lane Campbell with the Island County Sheriffs Office.

Ronald Murray, who was behind the wheel of the ford truck, suspects the teen driver may have been in a rush after getting stuck behind a slow caravan of old Model T automobiles.

“I have a feeling they were going slow and she was just eager to get home,” he said.
