North Whidbey Parks district approves new bylaws

North Whidbey Parks and Recreation District board of commissioners voted Thursday to approve a revised edition of the district bylaws.

North Whidbey Parks and Recreation District board of commissioners voted Thursday to approve a revised edition of the district bylaws.

The new edition of the bylaws contains only one change: the director is now referred to as executive director.

Commissioners previously discussed reducing the allowable amount the executive director could spend without board resolution or signatures from $50,000 to $30,000, but voted to keep the amount at $50,000.

Commissioners noted that the executive director needs to be able to act quickly in certain situations and is hired with the expectation that he or she can be trusted to make smart, ethical decisions.

A copy of the bylaws with the suggested revisions was posted on the district website during the month of April, with the invitation for public input.

No comments or suggestions from the public were presented.
