Oak Harbor’s Nick Rouser was named the Most Valuable Player for the West squad in the annual all-state football game at Everett Saturday, June 26.

Rouser’s brother Jake, who currently plays football for Idaho State University, also won the West MVP award when he competed in the game two years ago.

Nick Rouser, a defensive end, recorded several tackles, two for losses, and a sack, as well as putting heavy pressure on the quarterback throughout the game. The contest featured the state’s best recently graduated high-school football players.

Because of Rouser’s disruption of their offense in the first half, the East began double teaming him in the second half.

In spite of Rouser’s efforts, his West team fell 28-9 when the East broke open a close game with a big fourth quarter.

Rouser, who was a two-way all-Wesco lineman last fall for Oak Harbor, will play football for Central Washington University next season.
