Coupeville superintendent may turn a new page at North Kitsap

With a chance to move closer to family, the head of Coupeville School District is seeking a position in Kitsap County. Superintendent Patty Page was recently named one of three finalists for the top post of the North Kitsap School District. She said she applied for the position because she’ll be able to look after her mom. The position would also be a homecoming for Page. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1972.

Superintendent Patty Page was recently named one of three finalists for the top post of the North Kitsap School District. She said she applied for the position because she’ll be able to look after her mom. The position would also be a homecoming for Page. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1972.

She stressed that she wasn’t looking for a new position when the opportunity arose and she has been happy working in Coupeville.

“I love being here,” Page said. “I’ve always thought I’d end my career here.”

The North Kitsap School District dwarfs the Coupeville School District. While the Coupeville School District has 970 students and a $10 million budget, North Kitsap School District has 6,700 students and a $63 million budget. The district covers schools in Poulsbo, Kingston, Hansville, Indianola and Suquamish.

As one of the three finalists, she met the residents the North Kitsap area earlier in the week. In addition to Page, David Gray, assistant superintendent for the Battleground School District, and Bob Kuehl, assistant superintendent of the Tumwater School District, are vying for the position.
