So here’s my 3 cents: How much fat trimming has Island Transit done in-house? If off-island commuters are making $50,000 and not paying for gas, they can afford a quarter or two for using a system that they obviously benefit from.
As for people spending money on beer, soda, and junk food, well, while I appreciate your concern for world health and financial responsibility, it’s their money. Every time we turn around there’s a levy in our face. It’s my family’s money, yes be it 3 cents or $30, it’s still money I earned. So how dare any of you try to justify the taking of our money before all other options are exhausted?
I guess it’s just a good time to jump on the bailout bandwagon.
