Work continuing on Madrona Way this week

Contractors set up a tentative work plan to get paving completed on Madrona Way this week.

The project was suspended in December because it was too wet to pave and contractors were waiting for a stretch of good weather to complete the project.

Mayor Molly Hughes said the plan was submitted by contractors C. Johnson Construction for work today through Friday.

Crews were out Tuesday for general cleanup and prep work and today crews will be out doing the final grading and touchup of the roadway in preparation for paving Thursday.

The start time for paving Thursday will likely be 7-8 a.m. Pavers will start at Broadway Street and do one lane at a time.

Expect increased road activity with construction trucks coming into the area and a temporary closure of the Broadway Street and Madrona Way intersection.

The closure is anticipated to be two to four hours with flaggers detouring traffic through the Peaceful Valley residential neighborhood.

On Friday the road will still be closed to through traffic as crews pave driveway approaches along the road.

“It’s been a long, wet winter and I appreciate everyone’s patience with this project,” Hughes said.
