Oak Harbor scored first but host Lynnwood scored often in the Royals’ 10-1 fastpitch win in five innings Thursday, April 28.
The Wildcats scored in the top of the first when Bailey Martinez singled in Shawna Steele who had doubled. Oak Harbor would get only three hits and no runs the rest of the way.
Lynnwood (9-7, 6-5) pushed across two runs in the bottom of the first and never let up, getting at least two runs in each of its next three at bats.
Martinez finished 2-for-3 and Nichelle Trumbull and Ally McGuire rapped Oak Harbor’s other hits. Coach Jess Weikle said Morgan Young “hit the ball hard but nothing dropped.”
The Royals’ first four runs were unearned. Weikle said, “We started making errors and the energy went down.”
Oak Harbor (1-14, 1-9) faces 10th-ranked Meadowdale (11-3, 7-3) Monday, May 2, at Hillcrest Elementary at 4 p.m.
