The 20th annual Whidbey Island Giant Pumpkin Contest will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 during the Coupeville Farmers Market.
Contestants are encouraged to bring their giant and not-so-giant pumpkins for judging and weighing.
There will be awards for the prettiest giant, ugliest giant and biggest giant raised by a junior. Big zucchini will also be weighed and growers are invited to bring their big and mutant veggies of any type for viewing. Previous winners hail from Clinton to Oak Harbor.
Contestants are asked to bring their entries to the farmers market around 11 a.m.; weighing will begin following the Gifts From the Heart relay races.
The contest is free. For details, contact Lee at whidbeypumpkins@gmail.com
