This past Sunday afternoon the Oak Harbor community had its first chance to see and experience the new auditorium at the Oak Harbor High School. The Saratoga Chamber Orchestra in conjunction with the WICA Conservatory Choir performed the “Many Moods of Christmas” before a nearly full house.

This collaboration between the orchestra, choir and the Oak Harbor School District, a first ever, served to showcase the outstanding new facility to the community in an environment of great music. All in attendance marveled at not only the facility itself but the outstanding quality of the acoustics and layout, there is not a bad seat in the house.

To present this first-ever event at the new hall required some “above and beyond the call” efforts on the part of the school district. The orchestra will be ever grateful to Superintendent Rick Schulte and Communications Director Joe Hunt. Dwight Lundstrom, Principal of OHHS, and many others worked right up until curtain time to make it all happen. We thank each and every one who worked on this project and the community of Oak Harbor who supported us by their attendance.

It has been the orchestra’s goal to become “Whidbey’s orchestra” serving all of Whidbey Island, that goal has been realized with the success of this concert. The future looks bright for the arts in Oak Harbor.

Thank you OHSD and the Oak Harbor community.
