Josh Whitley, a 2008 Oak Harbor High School graduate and current member of the Oregon Institute of Technology men’s golf team, was named Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year this week.
Whitley, a senior, was also one of four Oregon Tech players to be named to the seven-man all-conference first team.
Whitley led the conference in strokes-per-round average this season, 73.1.
He also finished second in the league tournament at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Oregon April 18 and 19 with a three-round total of 230 (70, 82, 78), four shots behind Northwest Christian’s Josh Goins. Whitley’s 70 was the best round of the tournament.
