Joselino V. Mendoza

Joselino V. Mendoza, 42, of Oak Harbor, died June 14, 2007, at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born in the Philippines on March 10, 1965, to Pedro J. and Lydia H. (Villareal) Mendoza. After graduating from high school he attended STI School and received his degree in computer science.

In 1990 Joselino moved to the United States, living in San Diego for a brief time before calling Oak Harbor his home in 1991. He went to work for Trident Cannery, dividing his time between the plant here and ones in Cordova and Yakutat, Alaska. In 2005 he was reunited with his high school sweetheart, Charito Solis, and they were married in the Philippines.

Joselino enjoyed movies, music (especially Tagalog songs), posing for pictures, cooking, and gardening. Adept mechanically, he could fix anything, from carpentry to electronics.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charito of the Philippines, his mother Lydia, and siblings Nards, Rodrigo, Elena, Romeo, Celso, Arcel, Lito and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro, and a sister, Zenaida.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, June 21 and 22, at Burley Funeral Chapel, followed by the Mass at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, with burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
