Cora Arlene Young passed away on Nov. 10, 2010, after bravely facing a seven-year illness. Born in Yakima on May 28, 1939, and raised on March’s Point, she is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Franklin Springer and Clara Jeanette McClellan Springer, and her dear infant daughter, Shelley Louise Young. She is survived by her brother, William Springer; sister, Lenora Simpson; her husband of nearly 53 years, Donald Lee Young; her sons and daughters, Larry Young, James Young, Patricia Reiter, Gerald Young, and Melisia Young; as well as her grandsons and granddaughters, Pamela, Brandon, Tanya, Michael, and Courtney; and great-grandchildren Emmaline, Addison, and Ava.
Also sharing in our loss is Mother’s many, many friends; extended family members; and dear sons and daughters-in-law. Mom will be remembered for her avid love for animals, great and small. Mom’s strength, courage, and, above all, love was an essential element of our family; we will struggle without it. No memorial service will be held, at our mother’s request. Rather, we hope that all who knew Mom would upon occasion, in the future, kindly and fondly remember her.
Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. To share memories of Cora, please sign the online guest register at www.evanschapel.com.
